To the Moon

It was nice to have a clear morning sky with a slice of moon to gaze at this morning. My thoughts haven’t seem to wander that much during the last couple of weeks of running and it was sweet relief to hear the gears of mind start to turn rather than listen to the shuffle of my feet. Looking up at my running partner I begin to think about the moon phases and which one I was possibly witnessing and realized I truly don’t know that much about the moon and its phases. Everyone knows the full moon and the half and I knew that they were broken down to quarter moons and little slivers called waxing crescents (don’t ask me how I knew that because it blew my mind when I said it). I thought about the Sun shining on our little friend and the rays racing past it heading out to the vastness of space. I thought about being that particle of light and traveling for infinity across the universe. They say that the universe is slightly curved and that if you travel fast enough you could catch yourself. I wondered if I ran that fast and came up behind myself what would I say? Probably man my ass is big.

Ha ha! Off for a 30 minute run, my longest of the week. Wish it wasn't 23. You heading north this weekend?

I am glad today is my off day so maybe if the forecasters are correct it should be warmer tomorrow. I am getting use to running in shorts and the thought of bundling back up again weakens my motivation....We will not be heading north or at least Amanda is. I am staying here to have boys day with Tanner and she is doing the taxes with Katie. Nice trade.

I'm sorry to inform you that, while your knowledge of moon phases is impressive, the phase that the moon is in right now is waning crescent... Don't know why I know that, but when the moon is fading from full to empty it is waning, and it is waxing when it is going from empty to full. I do remember recently having a full moon. This thought would have never struck me though had I not read your blog before my morning run. My ipod ran out of juice half a mile from home, so it gave me some silence to contemplate the moon and it's fingernail like shape, and also the sound of honking geese -- they must honk in the same key as a crying baby, or a car alarm. Whatever key it's in, I guess B sharp, is the most annoying sound ever. I am working on getting that information. Just plugging in to listen to your playlist for the last hour of my workday. Sorry to hear you're not coming up this weekend, sounds like Paul and Kathy are heading up next weekend, you're more than welcome to come up then too (or anybody for that matter) - we plan on sticking them with some babysitting.jk

I am glad to know that your knowledge of moon phases is quite extent. I will definitely use you as my shout out on Cash Cab. I actually was throwing out names of moon phases during my blog and didn't have a clue of which one it was. I had guessed quarter and found out that it was the third quarter but I have to say that I am flabbergasted at your explanation between the waning and waxing crescents....geese are becoming quite the nuisance with all their honking and flight patterns taking down commercial jets. Let me know what you find out about the Song of the Geese in B sharp. I am glad you brought up the question of the most annoying sound...it will give me something to think about on a 8 miler tomorrow.

I went for my run this morning and didn't think that it would take that long to come up with the sound that annoys me the most. A guess it is hard to think about annoying sounds when you have good music in your ears but I thought and thought and narrowed it down to three things. Fast and the Furious coffee can mufflers, American Idol so called singers, and Hillary Clinton. All three are equally brutal to the auditory system. I also couldn't get the image of Jim Carrey in Dumb and Dumber out of my head so thank you for that JK.
