Snow Rocks!
As I lay fresh tracks in the morning snow I began to smile. Snow rocks! You can't ask for better running conditions than the snow gently falling as you make way down the road. The stiff crunch under your feet and the tingle of snowflakes smacking your face makes for a great run. I thought about other weather conditions and how they measure up to snow. Sure a clear sunning day is nice but there is something about snow that quiets our fast paced world.

I'll agree with you that snow muffles the sound of the outside world.. and it's very peaceful while it's falling... but it really stinks after it freezes and stays on the roads and sidewalks for 3 months. Either way you look at it though it is great to be a runner in the winter because it gives you the ability and reason to get outside and realize that the outside world still exists - I sit in a cubicle all day so I can forget that sometimes.
One of my favorite runs this year has been on Sundays when I jog to the local golf course and strap my snowshoes on for a couple of the hardest miles ever. Something I know I will miss this summer.
Funny how your playlist and my ipod playlists always look alike. I listened to Sometime Around Midnight twice this morning on my 11 mile run (all indoors) - 2 miles warmup on the track, 6 miles intervals on the treadmill, 2 miles cooldown on the track, 1 mile hlil work on the treadmill -- In case you wondered.

My playlist hasn't changed since Christmas time. Hopefully soon I will be able to transfer my apple library from my old hard drive or a might go insane. I don't know if you like this genre of music but you might want to check it out. TRVSDJAM (Fix Your Face)is the name and it is pretty much like the Beastie Boys. It is free to download on thier website www.TRVSDJAM.com. I like it for my speed work if you can call it that as of late.
When did you pick up the snowshoes? I have always wanted to get a pair but just can't pull the trigger on the purchase. It does put my mind at ease knowing that you have them and that you might be able to rescue me when the world freezes over.
you guys are both crazy!!!
